Frequently Asked Questions
1) I just got laid off and can’t afford a membership. Who is supposed to pay for this?
You’re not expected to cover this cost while unemployed. Level Up is designed to be included in your severance or outgoing benefits package, paid for by your former employer. That way, you have immediate structure and support without added financial stress. If you’re unsure what benefits your company provides, ask HR or check your separation documents to see what’s available.
2) $700–$1,750/month membership feels expensive. Why?
Companies already spend $1,000+/Mo per person on traditional outplacement, yet those programs offer far less support. Level Up’s pricing reflects a higher-touch model—structured daily programming, expert-led workshops, wellness integration, and real accountability. Most importantly, our approach helps shorten the time you’re unemployed. The faster you land your next role, the more valuable this investment becomes for both you and your former employer.
3) What makes Level Up different from traditional outplacement services?
Traditional outplacement is mostly virtual and transactional—resume templates, webinars, and ‘hidden’ job board access. Level Up is the opposite: an in-person hub where you commit time each week, rebuild daily rhythm, and connect with peers who truly get it. We combine career coaching with wellness and community, addressing not just the mechanics of job search but also the isolation, stress, and loss of momentum that come with unemployment. That’s why HR leaders tell us Level Up fills a gap traditional services don’t.
4) How is spending time with other laid-off professionals going to help me get a new job?
Spending time with others in the same position gives you peers who understand what you’re going through. You’ll feel less alone, share wins and setbacks, and learn what’s working (and what’s not). More importantly, the career coaches, guest speakers, wellness activities, and networking events keep you motivated and accountable—especially as time passes after your last role. Going at it alone is what makes the process brutal.
5) what does the day-to-day schedule look like?
Each weekday offers up to 10 hours of one-hour blocks you can join, blending job search focus with wellness and community. You’ll rotate between check-ins, applications, workshops (resume, interviews, LinkedIn, salary), wellness activities (yoga, mindfulness, lunches), and networking events—with optional 1-on-1 sessions depending on your plan.
6) Why is there a 15/hr per week minimum attendance requirement?
Because half the battle is showing up. Job searching alone leads to stress and burnout, while research shows community lowers stress and boosts motivation. Those 15 hours give you structure through job-search blocks, workshops, networking, and expert 1-on-1 sessions—keeping you productive and accountable.
7) Who are the experts at Level Up?
They’re local, independent professionals—career coaches, yoga teachers, trainers, nutritionists, therapists, and financial consultants—who bring their skills directly into the Level Up community. Our model is community-driven, so you’re supported by real people, not distant webinar hosts.
8) Will my membership be anonymous?
Yes. We understand that layoffs can feel personal and sensitive. That’s why Level Up prioritizes privacy—your membership and attendance are not disclosed to anyone unless you choose to share. Within the community, we foster trust and respect, so you can engage openly without fear of judgment.
9) How long can I stay a member?
Membership is designed as a short-term bridge, not a permanent landing spot. We estimate that most members will stay between 2–6 months depending on their needs. Given the current job market, it is not uncommon for people to be unemployed for 12 months or more. While we are here for you as long as you need us, the goal is to help you reestablish structure, build momentum, and land your next role faster.
10) Where is Level Up located?
Our first hub will open in NW Washington, DC in Fall 2025. Level Up is structured like an office with unassigned/hoteling desks to plug-and-play. We will also have a designated space for group workshops, yoga, community lunches, and networking events. All 1-on-1 sessions will be held in private offices.
